{"id":1965,"date":"2022-06-22T11:46:13","date_gmt":"2022-06-22T04:46:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.plizz.co\/?p=977"},"modified":"2022-06-22T11:46:13","modified_gmt":"2022-06-22T04:46:13","slug":"foreigners-shooting-films-in-thailand-wont-be-taxed-for-next-five-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plizz.co\/th\/blog\/foreigners-shooting-films-in-thailand-wont-be-taxed-for-next-five-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreigners shooting films in Thailand won\u2019t be taxed for next five years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>June 22, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.nationthailand.com\/uploads\/images\/md\/2022\/06\/LZrK9OziY8vyMpZpsEZT.webp?x-image-process=style\/lg\" alt=\"Foreigners shooting films in Thailand won\u2019t be taxed for next five years\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Foreign actors shooting movies in Thailand will be exempted from paying tax for the next five years in a bid to attract filmmakers to Thailand and boost the country\u2019s soft power.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy government spokesperson Ratchada Thanadirek said the Cabinet approved the move on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Income from foreign filmmakers has increasing significantly, from an average 3.5 billion baht per year during 2017-2020 to 5 billion baht in 2021, she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe government already has a measure to promote movie shooting in Thailand by providing a cash rebate of 20 per cent of what filmmakers spend in Thailand, capped at 75 million baht,\u201d said Ratchada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, in the past foreign actors have had to pay personal income tax from earnings in the country, on top of the tax they already have to pay in their country of origin.
