Measures from the Social Security to help employees & employers

Reduced Social Security contributions from March to May 2020

Contributions to be paid to Social Security will be reduced as follows:

– from 5% to 4% for the employers’ contribution
– from 5% to 1% for the employees’ contribution

 

3 months extension for March to June 2020 Social Security filings

Companies will be granted a 3 months extension for the filing of Social Security contributions:

– March filing and payment by July15th 2020
– April filing and payment by August15th 2020
– May filing and payment by September15th 2020

 

The Social Security will pay 50% of eligible employees’ salary (limit of 7,500 THB)

Employees not being paid their salary from March onwards as a direct impact of the Covid-19 outbreak can receive the support of the Social Security under the following conditions:

– Employees from companies under one of the *categories of activity ordered by the government to cease their operations are eligible to receive 50% of their salary up to 60 days (in the limit of ฿7,500/month).

*Categories: restaurants, shopping malls, fresh markets, beauty salons, tatoo shops, fun parks, gaming & internet shops, golf courses, swimming pools, amulets markets, fair & convention halls, educational institutions, cosmetic surgery clinics, spas & massages, pet shops, fitness, boxing & sport clubs.

– Employees from other companies directly impacted by the Covid-19 outbreak can apply to receive 50% of their salary up to 180 (in the limit of ฿7,500)
The Social Security supports individuals becoming unemployed

– Individuals who resigned from their job after March 1st 2020 will be eligible to receive up to 45% of their salary from the Social Security for up to 90 days (in the limit of ฿7,500)

– Individuals whose employment has been terminated after March 1st 2020 will be eligible to receive up to 70% of their salary from the Social Security for up to 200 days (in the limit of ฿7,500)
